Update

Stupid internet dongle thing ran out of money and I am too incompetent to find a way to refill it. Plan of keeping track of everyday has, more or less, gone to shit. To summarise, net access has been limited - not such a bad thing seeing as I didn’t travel to South East Asia to use the net.

First week was all about meeting family and such. Few familar faces here or there but for the most part, completely unknown to me. To be fair, I was only five during the last visit.

Some interesting observations:

I’m taller than 80% of the populace.
Sprite does not taste like Sprite.
Vietnamese people know how to make energy drinks. No ounce of energy whatsoever but rather tasty.
There’s a washing detergent called Downy.
Motorbikes are chill.
Vietnamese advertisements are all voiced by the same feminine, overexicited gentleman
All children speak in the same annoying, high pitched voice.
Pens have the nice sharp .7mm tip that I enjoy.

The novelty of a new country has worn off somewhat. The past week has been very monotonous. Everyday, it’s the exact same routine. Wake up, breakfast (Eggs will be the death of me), bum around for a few hours, lunch, sleep, dinner, ice cream. Nothing against Ice Cream but having it every night not only gets boring but has the added negative externality (Eco wink wink) of making you fat.

There are very few pretty girls in Vietnam which saddens me. I need someting to pass the time. Something to distract me from these fucking mosquitos (die die die) and repetitive lifestyle.

I am convinced that this trip has fried my brain. I can’t think anymore. I was hoping for some sense of rejuvenation. Two more weeks to go!
